Diploma in English

The Diploma in English (Level 3) is a six-month qualification designed to enhance learners’ English language competence in academic, professional, and social contexts. It develops the four key language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—alongside grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) progression from B1 (intermediate) to B2 (upper-intermediate) level. This qualification is intended for students who have completed O/L or A/L examinations and wish to improve their English proficiency for higher studies or employment. The programme emphasises communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills through interactive learning, task-based activities, and integrated project work.

1. Grammar and Usage – Sentence structures, verb tenses, active and passive voice, modal verbs, conditionals, reported speech, and punctuation.

2. Phonology and Vocabulary Development – Phonetic symbols, stress and rhythm, pronunciation drills, vocabulary building, idioms, and collocations.

3. Listening and Oral Communication Skills – Active listening, dialogues, interviews, group discussions, and pronunciation practice for fluency.

4. Reading and Comprehension Skills – Reading strategies, summarising, paraphrasing, identifying opinions, and responding to texts.

5. Structure and Writing Skills – Academic and creative writing, paragraph unity, coherence, linking devices, and editing for grammar accuracy.

6. English for the Workplace and Project Work – Role plays, report writing, CV and cover letter preparation, public speaking, and final oral or written projects.
